PSD (Social Democratic Party) leader Marcel Ciolacu said Social Democrats will vote against the dissolution of the Section investigating magistrates.
"We will definitely vote against [the dissolution of the Section investigating magistrates - editor's note] because we cannot overlook a decision of specialists. If specialists had said it wasn't good ... but we saw how justice functioned without this section. In my opinion, it did not function as it was supposed to function in a democratic state, given also that we have a young democracy in Romania. So this section was established and they haven't let it function ever since. Because none of the justice ministers allowed it to function at capacity. So let's let this body function first and then draw the conclusions. (...) I will ask my colleagues, as a political decision, to vote against the dissolution of the Section," Ciolacu told Antena 3 private television broadcaster on Sunday evening when he was asked how would PSD vote considering that the centre-right coalition agreed to dismantle it.
He added that both the Supreme Council of Magistrates and the High Court of Cassation and Justice decided it would be better to not dismantle this section.
