Health Minister Alexandru Rafila pointed out on Wednesday that the Delta strain represents somewhere between 20% and 25% of the infections with the novel coronavirus in Romania.

"We still have serious cases with the Delta strain, which is not completely eliminated from circulation in Romania. It is a strain that still represents somewhere between 20% and 25% of infections," the minister explained in a press conference, Agerpres.ro informs.

One third of the beds for patients infected with the novel coronavirus are occupied nationwide.

According to him, 12% of the ICU beds for children infected with the novel coronavirus are occupied.

"The occupancy rate of children's beds in ICUs: there are 100 beds and we are at 12% of the ICU beds allocated for children. Here, things have been constant. The number of children admitted to ICU has been reduced," said Alexandru Rafila.
