The chairman of Forta Dreptei / Force of the Right, Ludovic Orban, expressed, on Sunday evening, his doubt that the exit poll results would reflect the options of the Romanians.
In a joint press conference held together with the leader of the Save Romania Union (USR), Catalin Drula, and the president of the People's Movement Party (PMP), Eugen Tomac, he criticized the lack of debates dedicated to the election for the European Parliament.
"Today the governing coalition achieved a score it did not dream of, for one reason. We did not have elections for the European Parliament, in this election campaign, due to the unconstitutional merger of local elections with elections for the European Parliament. The whole campaign (...) was no debate about the European Parliament, about the position of Romania and the representation of Romania in the European Parliament, about what Romania's representatives should do in the European Parliament. Today's score, which we are not sure is the score, because we have to confess to you that during the course of today there have been extremely strange things regarding the only exit poll that is being advertised today (...) we are waiting for the actual results and we are convinced that the actual results will differ from the results that are presented on the TV screens today," Orban said.
He mentioned that "the real battle will take place in the presidential and parliamentary elections".
At the same time, the leader of Forta Dreptei expressed his conviction that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) will not succeed in electing the future president of Romania. He also emphasized that the United Right Alliance will fight "with all its forces" alongside the Romanians who want freedom, democracy and "who do not accept to be under the heel" of some "political impostors who want to destroy" democracy.
