Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu stated on Thursday that Romania "cannot afford to lose an enterprise" like Dacia and that he intends to hold discussions with the company's representatives.

"I am planning to engage in dialogue. I need to speak very quickly with representatives of foreign companies, representatives of Romanian companies, trade unions, and civil society. And, naturally, Dacia will be among my priorities. Dacia is one of the largest contributors to Romania's Gross Domestic Product, 2% or 3%, if I recall correctly. It accounts for a significant portion of exports. Romania cannot afford to lose an enterprise like Dacia," he told Antena 1.

Niculescu indicated that he intends to visit as many villages and towns as possible to speak with the people. He also advocated for a "diversified" foreign policy agenda, with the aim of attracting foreign investment to Romania.

"I am a patriot; I am Romanian. I will form this Government for the sake of Romania. Romania must have very good relations with the USA, it is our strategic partner, our primary strategic ally. France is our historic partner; we share an exceptional, long-standing relationship with France. But Europe is not limited to France alone. There are many nations in Europe, and we must maintain good relations with all of them," the prime minister-designate added.

He mentioned that the future Cabinet will be "for Romania" and will have to make both right-wing and left-wing decisions.

"There are many left-wing individuals [in the Government] from the PSD. There are also the independents, who are very good, excellent, in their respective fields, and we have some very urgent tasks to address. Some are right-wing in nature, others left-wing. It will be a Government for this country," said Niculescu.
