Romania is entering a process of cooling weather, with negative minimums of minus two - minus three degrees in depressions, and maximums of up to 25-26 degrees in the south of the country, Elena Mateescu, the general director of the National Meteorological Administration, declared to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
"The weather will enter a cooling process today (Wednesday, editor's note), in the west, north and center, maximum temperatures will not exceed 17-18 degrees, we can still record 30-32 degrees in the southwest, in Banat and southwest Oltenia. Starting tomorrow, however, the cooling will be felt throughout the country, with maximums in the south of no more than 25-26 degrees, and in the northern half of no more than 17-18 degrees. The minimums, at the end of the week, will be negative, towards -3, -2 degrees Celsius in depressions, while in the rest of the extra-Carpathian areas and in the lower areas, no more than 7-8 degrees," specified Mateescu.
Regarding precipitation, she added that it will be reported especially in the intra-Carpathian regions and in the southern and eastern areas, with amounts of 10-15 liters/m2, while wind intensification will be sustained, of 40-50 km/h and even 60-70 km/h, on the ridges.
Mateescu does not rule out the appearance of snowfall in the coming days, in some areas of the country. "If temperatures - as I mentioned - will certainly drop in mountainous areas, on ridges, at more than 1,500 meters, and will be predominantly negative, from the precipitations in liquid form, we do not rule out their transformation into solid form," added the head of the ANM.
According to the cited source, the capital will also experience a cooling of the weather in the coming days, and at the end of the week the maximums will not exceed 19 degrees Celsius.
"In Bucharest, in the coming days, from one day to the next, we will feel the lower temperatures, so that at the end of the week we will record at most 18-19 degrees and minimums around 7-8 degrees," stressed Elena Mateescu.
Regarding the forecast for October, the Director General of the National Meteorological Agency (ANM) said that alternations of colder periods followed by warmer periods will certainly be reported, but the degree of accuracy will be updated through medium and short-term forecasts. "But, as we have already become accustomed to and it is a trend, the alternation of warm weather followed by colder periods will remain of interest until the end of the year," concluded Elena Mateescu.
