Romania recorded the most significant decline of the European Union in construction works compared to the similar period of 2017, according to data released on Thursday by Eurostat, EU's official statistics bureau.
In March, construction works recorded an increase of 0.8 percent in Eurozone and a drop of 1.3 percent in the EU. The highest annual increases of construction works were recorded in Poland (18.8 percent), Spain (17.1 percent) and Slovakia (4.9 percent), while the most significant declines were recorded in Romania (minus 10.8 percent), the UK (minus 8.1 percent) and France (2.5 percent).
Construction works dropped by 0.3 percent in Eurozone and by 0.9 percent in the European Union in March compared to the previous month.
The most significant monthly increase of construction works was recorded in Spain (3.1 percent), Slovakia (2.3 percent) and Belgium (1.1 percent), while the highest declines ware recorded in Hungary (minus 10.3 percent), Romania (minus 9.2 percent) and France (minus 2.6 percent).
