Romanian tennis player Mihaela Buzarnescu qualified on Wednesday, for the first time, for the third round of the Roland Garros tournament, the Second Grand Slam of the year, after defeating Swiss Rebecca Peterson, with a score of 6-1, 6-2.
Buzarnescu (aged 30, WTA's 33rd), seeded 31st, defeated Peterson (aged 22, WTA's 96th) after only 63 minutes.
Buzarnescu secured a cheque worth 130,000 euro and 130 WTA points, and in the next round she will face off the winner of the event between Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (4th seed) and Viktoria Kuzmova (Slovakia).
