Romania won on Sunday two silver and a bronze medal at the ICF Sprint U23 and Junior World Championships organized at the Bascov-Budeasa National Sports Complex (Arges County).
In the junior category, Laura Plesca and Adrieana Mihai won the silver medal in the women's K-2 500m event, clocking 01 min 45 sec 968/1000. Hungarian duo Karin Biben / Olga Bako came in first with a time of 01 min 43 sec 788/1000.
In the U23 category Romania won a silver and a bronze medal: Catalin Chirila and Constantin Diba landed the silver in the men's C-2 500m event, finishing in 01 min 41 sec 520/1000. Ilie Sprincean and Oleg Nuta of the Republic of Moldova took home the gold with a time of 01 min 40 sec 912/1000.
In the men's 4 K4 500m event, the team Cosmin Lulciuc, Razvan Albisoru, Aurelian Ciocan, Sorin Ciocal claimed the bronze with a time of 01 min 20 sec 744/1000, just 032/1000 away from the silver medalists of Belarus.
Alexandru Patrascu came in 5th in the men's junior C1 200m event, with a time of 43 sec 104/1000.
At the U23 category, in the women's K2 500m heat, Romania's Florida Ciuta and Daniela Varona ended 5th in 01 min 44 sec 708/1000.
In the medal standings of the Bascov-Budeasa competition, Hungary holds the first position with 7 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze medals, followed by Germany 7-8-3 and China 4-0-0. Romania ranks 20th with a tally of 0-2-1.
In the junior category Hungary ranks first with a tally of 5-5-1, followed by Germany: 3-0-1; China: 3-0-0, etc. Romania was on spot 16 with 0-1-0.
At the U23 category, Belarus was on top with 3-1-1, followed by Hungary: 2-3-2, New Zealand: 2-0-0. Romania ranked 17th with a tally of 0-1-1.
