Romania wins two bronze medals in table tennis, judo, in Summer World University Games in Germany

Romanian athletes won two bronze medals at the FISU 2025 Summer World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr (Germany) on Thursday in judo and table tennis.

Judoka Florentina Ivanescu won bronze in the 63 kg category, after defeating Italian Flavia Favorini in the decisive match.

Table tennis player Eduard Ionescu won bronze in the men's singles, after being defeated in the semifinals by Russian Vladimir Sidorenko, 4-0.

The first medal of the Romanian delegation was also bronze, won on Wednesday in table tennis, by Eduard Ionescu and Darius Movileanu, in the men's doubles.

Romania is participating in the Universiade in Germany with a delegation of 78 people, including 64 athletes, in 9 disciplines: athletics (women's), basketball (women's, men's), rhythmic gymnastics, swimming (women's, men's), judo (women's, men's), beach volleyball (women's, men's), taekwondo (women's, men's), archery (women's, men's), table tennis (women's, men's).
