Romanian boxer Lacramioara Perijoc reached the quarter-finals of the 57 kg category at the European Boxing Championships in Sofia on Monday after defeating Serbia's Nikolina Cacic on points (5-0).
In the quarter-finals on 23 September, Perijoc will face Türkiye's Esra Yildiz Kahraman, who won bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and at last year's World Championships in Nis, Serbia.
Also on Monday, Andrei Valentin Gavae was beaten on points by Bulgaria's Radoslav Rosenov (0-5) in the last 16 of the 60 kg category.
In the 75 kg category, Marian Alexandru Buleu was beaten on points (0-5) by England's Callum Makin in the last 16.
Romania entered nine athletes in the competition, three women and six men, with only two women still in contention, Perijoc and Sebe. Crinuta Andra Nicoleta Sebe will face Armenian boxer Elida Kocearian on 22 September in the quarter-finals of the 65 kg category.
