Romanian Design Week will be up and running for its 10-year anniversary between May 13 - 22 in Bucharest, the organizers - The Institute - inform in a release.

They go on to note that throughout this period, the multifaceted event has contributed to the growth of the Romanian design scene and industry, promoting cooperation and partnership inside and outside the guild by growing a professional community of well-established designers and architects and contributing to the city's change for the better, especially through the cultural event venues.

"Ten years ago we started RDW out of a desire to prove how the talent and minds of valuable designers put together can bring about a change for the better in everybody's life - communities, cities, countries, social or business entrepreneurs, by organizing exhibitions, conferences, award events, online platforms and channels dedicated to this universe. We believe that the integration of design in the Romanian society, as level of understanding and consumption, use in projects and business, way of thinking and considering things, will lead to the modernization of the Romanian society and economy. This is the mission we continue to take on," said Andrei Gavrila-Bortun, initiator of Romanian Design Week & CEO of The Institute.

Gracing the festival under the hashtag #forward will be organizations, designers, initiatives and events with online and offline presence that will emphasize the importance and contribution of creative industries in designing a future that looks with respect at sustainability, inclusion and state-of-the-art. In addition, the theme also reflects the opening of a new chapter for the mission of Romanian Design Week: encouraging the consumption of design and architecture-generated products.

The central space of the festival will be the Plastic Fund Combine, which is home to a valuable and effervescent artistic community and which will host exhibitions, events, conferences, workshops and an outdoor area fitted out especially for RDW visitors who will be able to enjoy a design-themed leisure time for 10 days.

Through a partnership with the Bucharest Order of Architects, RDW will also propose a special program that will be hosted by the "The I.C. Bratianu Heritage Ensemble".

For the third consecutive year, the Design Flags program will feature a series of international design exhibitions to encourage dialogue between the Romanian and the international market, as the festival aims to contribute to the development of local creative industries in a global context.

Romanian Design Week will celebrate the creative communities and local hubs through the Design GO program that comes up with a host of satellite events and special design routes through Bucharest, but also in the Creative Quarter.

The program of RDW's 10th anniversary edition will also reflect the results of the strategic partnerships of The Institute with the Representation of the European Commission in Romania, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the Bucharest Order of Architects, the Union of Fine Artists, the Plastic Fund Combine, and the 'Baza' Association, Agerpres informs.
