Over 10,000 rooms were booked in January 2025 for summer holidays on the Romanian seaside, according to data with one of the most important tour operators in Romania.
According to Litoralulromanesc.ro, the number of bookings in the first month of 2025 is 26% higher than in the same period in 2024, while the total value of bookings exceeded RON 33 million (+26%).
Also, the Early Booking programme released on October 1, 2024, continues to attract tourists eager for advantageous offers. So far, under this programme, which offers discounts and flexible payment terms for Black Sea coast stays, over 21,000 bookings were made of a total value exceeding RON 70 million.
"The figures in this first month of the year indicate a very promising start to the year. In addition to an increase in the number of bookings and the total value of bookings, we also see a 50% increase in new users, a trend that is also valid in the last quarter of 2024, which shows us an increasing interest in early bookings. Compared with previous years, there are signs that domestic seaside tourism is becoming more and more attractive and, at the same time, that it is a mature, stable market. Romanians choose the local seaside either because of improvements in infrastructure (bigger beaches, better services), or as a result of the uncertainties related to travelling abroad. We also notice that tourists look for information online, do good research before booking a holiday, compare the options they have to ensure that they make the best decision for them," director of the Litoralulromanesc.ro agency Stefan Necula is quoted as saying in a press statement on Friday.
Of the total number of January 2025 bookings, about a third were paid for by holiday card.
"We expect that a major impact will be who the holiday cards will be replenished this year, so we call on the relevant bodies to make the best decision both for the employees benefitting from these cards and for the industry we are part of. It remains for us and our hotel partners to make further efforts to show that the Romanian seaside is a destination worth visiting, regardless of the current political and fiscal climate, and that we can offer Romanians the holidays they want."
As for the January 2025 bookings, the most popular resort remains Eforie Nord, followed immediately by Mamaia. On the third place in this ranking is Neptun-Olimp.
The most booked accommodation establishments were the three-star ones, either with accommodation and breakfast services, or all-inclusive packages.
The Early Booking programme continues in February, when holidays on the Romanian seaside for the 2025 summer season can be booked at discounts of up to 45%.
With over 20 years of experience on the local tourism market, Litoralulromanesc.ro is the largest tour operator on the Black Sea holiday segment, both in terms of the number of tourists and the turnover.
