Romanian tennis players Irina Begu and Anca Todoni will play against each other in the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Cali (Colombia), equipped with total prizes of 115,000 US dollars, after winning in their respective matches on Wednesday.
Begu (34 years old, 102 WTA), seed no. 2, defeated Colombian Emiliana Arango (23 years old, 183 WTA), 6-2, 6-2, after one hour and 25 minutes of playing.
Todoni (20 years old, 117 WTA), seeded 8th, defeated Argentinian Solana Sierra (20 years old, 156 WTA), 6-4, 7-6 (7/5), after one hour and 40 minutes of playing.
Todoni, who won the WTA 125 title in Santa Cruz (Bolivia) on Sunday, after a final against Arango (7-6, 6-0), will face Irina Begu for the first time.
The two Romanians each secured 3,475 US dollars and 27 WTA points.
