Romania's Barbosu wins uneven bars bronze at European Championships in Leipzig

Romania's Ana Barbosu on Friday evening won the bronze medal on uneven bars at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Leipzig, Germany.

Barbosu, ninth in qualifications with 13.400, was the first reserve, but she came to compete as German gymnast Helen Kevric witdrew from injury, and she finally climbed the medal podium with 13.766 points. 

The gold medal went to Belgian Nina Derwael, 14.466 points, and the silver medal to Hungarian Bettina Lili Czifra, 14.100 points. 

Last time Romania won an uneven bar European medal was in 2008, when Steliana Nistor won silver, according to the Romanian Gymnastics Federation. Romania's uneven bar European medal tally is six gold, eight silver and three bronze medals, Agerpres informs.

Barbosu had won the bronze medal in the all-around on Thursday. 

She will also compete in two other apparatus finals, on floor and beam, and compatriot Denisa Golgota will perform on beam. Barbosu had the second-best routine in qualifications, winning 13.600 points, and the fourth-best routine in beam qualifications, winning 13.600 points. Golgota also qualified for the beam final, in the eighth position.
