Romania's car production this February stood at 44,111 units, 12 percent higher compared to the year-ago figure of 39,372, shows data with the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM) released on Thursday.
Of this total, 24,878 cars were produced by the Dacia Plant in Mioveni, and 19,233 rolled off the lines of the Craiova-based Ford factory.
Romania's car output in the first two months of this year was of 79,282 units, of which 40,694 were Dacia models and 38,588 Fords. The total figure is 1.9 percent higher compared to the period January - February 2021.
According to data with the Driving Licences and Vehicle Registration Directorate cited by ACAROM, as many as 8,616 new cars were registered nationwide this February, by 24.92 percent higher YoY.
New car registrations in the first two months of this year reached 17,953 units, up 39.16 percent compared to the same period in 2021, when 12,901 units were registered.
Topping the ranking of new cars registered between January - February 2022 is Dacia with 4,910 units, followed by Hyundai (1,804), Skoda (1,196), Volkswagen (1,186), Ford (1,162), Toyota (1,103), Renault (1,021), Mercedes (649), Peugeot (542) and Kia (426).
As for second hand cars registered for the first time in Romania, their number reached 24,701 units this February, 23.7 percent down from the same period of 2021.
As many as 49,043 second hand cars were registered in the first two months of the current year, 24.25 percent down from 64,741 in the year-ago period.
