Romanian-Italian duo Jaqueline Cristian/Angelica Moratelli has advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's doubles event of the WTA 250 Transylvania Open tennis tournament at the BTarena in Cluj-Napoca, after defeating Romanian-American double Monica Niculescu/Sabrina Santamaria, 4-6 7-5 10-3.

The top seed double bowed after almost two hours of play (1 h 48 min).

For their performance so far, Cristian and Moratelli won USD 2,540 and 54 WTA doubles points, and in the quarterfinals, they will face Romanian duo, Irina Begu/Sorana Cîrstea or Briana Szabo/Patricia Tig.
