Romania's new car registrations increased by 39 percent in September 2025 compared to the same period last year, but over the first nine months, the number dropped by 5.1 percent, according to preliminary data of the General Directorate for Driving Licenses and Registrations (DGPCI), compiled by the the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).
Thus, in September, the number of new cars registered nationwide reached a volume of 12,409 units.
In the brand ranking for September, Dacia led with 4,124 units, followed by Renault with 1,139 and Toyota with 1,047 units. By model, the most registrations were recorded for Dacia Logan (1,743 units), Dacia Duster (931) and Dacia Sandero (774 units).
Within this segment, fully electric cars reported a 52 percent year-on-year increase and achieved a market share of 6 percent.
In the first nine months of 2025, new car registrations reached 108,067 units, declining by 5.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
The APIA is a non-profit organization, established in 1994 and a member of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) since 1996.
