Rompetrol resumes oil loading in CPC pipeline

kmgi rompetrol

KMG International Group (KMGI), former Rompetrol Group, owned by Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company - KazMunayGas, announces the partial resumption this morning of the oil loading operations in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium's (CPC) pipeline, according to a press release sent on Friday to AGERPRES.

This comes after a strong storm affected the loading capacity of crude oil in the Russian port of Novorossiysk in recent days.

The resumption of activities is a positive signal for the entire refining industry, but also for consumers in the Black Sea region, company officials say, Agerpres.ro informs.

KMGI Chairman Daniyar Berlibayev, who also holds the position of Chairman of the CPC Board, had a meeting on March 23 with representatives of Transneft (representing the Russian side in the CPC) in Moscow.

The parties expressed interest in resolving the current situation quickly and underscored the importance of complying with all environmental requirements.

On Friday, Daniyar Berlibayev headed to Novorossiysk to assess the current state of the terminal, the impact of adverse conditions, and plans to make it fully operational again as soon as possible.

KMG International, together with its trading division - KMG Trading, will continue to supply crude oil to its customers, and it will also ensure the resumption of normal production activities at the Petromidia Navodari refinery, after the completion of the maintenance works.

Kazakhstan is a major shareholder in CPC, with a total stake of 20.75pct (KazMunayGas - 19pct, Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC - 1.75pct).

In 2021, the volume of crude oil transited through the CPC amounted to 60.7 million tons, of which about 87pct was loaded and shipped by specialized companies in Kazakhstan (Tengiz perimeters - 26.6 million tonnes, Karachaganak - 10.3 million tonnes and Kashagan - 15.7 million tonnes).
