Salina Praid to host first underground gastronomic festival in Romania titled Taste of Transylvania Underground

Salina Praid will host for the first time in Romania a unique, three-day gastronomic festival titled "Taste of Transylvania Underground", which will bring together the gastronomic elites from Romania and Hungary, reads a press release sent by the organizers to AGERPRES.

"Between March 28-30, 2025, Salina Praid, one of the largest and most spectacular salt mines in Europe, will host the national premiere of Taste of Transylvania Underground, a unique gastronomic event that promises to redefine culinary experiences through the concept of fun dining. The organizers, in collaboration with the Pro Economica Foundation, estimate between 1,500 and 2,500 participants per day, attracted by a spectacular mix of high-class gastronomy and entertainment," the press release states.

Taste of Transylvania Underground brings together top restaurants from Romania and Hungary, including Michelin-starred restaurants.

The atmosphere will be entertained by a series of artists performing in the salt pans, and participants will enjoy wine tastings and traditional foodand wine 100 meters underground.

"During the Taste of Transylvania Underground festival, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of authentic experiences in a unique setting, designed to celebrate the gastronomic and cultural richness of the region. Wine lovers will be able to explore exquisite selections offered by local producers, participating in exclusive wine pairing sessions alongside gourmet dishes prepared by renowned chefs, including Michelin-starred chefs. The atmosphere will be complemented by workshops dedicated to traditional Transylvanian food, where visitors will be able to discover the secrets of pottery, weaving and other folk arts. In addition, the stands of small producers will offer a variety of delicacies: ripened cheeses, artisanal smoked meats, traditional desserts and other Hungarian, Czech, Romanian and Secler specialties," shows the press release.

The founder of the festival, Trucza Adorjan, said, quoted in the press release, that through this event the organizers want to demonstrate that Transylvania can become a premium destination for gastronomy lovers.

"Through Taste of Transylvania Underground, we aim to demonstrate that Transylvania can become a premium destination for gastronomy lovers, combining local traditions with high-class fine dining. It's not just about organizing a gastronomic festival, but about creating an ecosystem that supports the local economy and the authentic values of the region," said Trucza Adorjan.

The press release also states that, through the strategic partnership with Pro Economica Foundation, the festival promotes traditional Transylvanian products and supports the development of a sustainable local market.

"This partnership aims to highlight the gastronomic richness of the region and position Transylvania on the international map of gourmet destinations. Our objective is to transform this event into an annual landmark, capable of attracting tourists from all over the world and to contribute to the development of gastronomic tourism in Romania," the president of Pro Economica Foundation, Monika Kozma, was quoted as saying in the press release.

The Taste of Transylvania Festival was launched in 2022, and takes place in the holiday village of Boros, in the commune of Lunca de Jos, quickly becoming one of the most awaited gastronomic events in Romania and bringing together renowned chefs and gastronomy enthusiasts.

"Taste of Transylvania Underground promises to be a landmark edition, offering a unique combination of fine dining, tradition and entertainment in a spectacular natural setting," the press release adds.
