USR (Save Romania Union) senator Silvia Dinica asked the Ministry of Education to react as quickly as possible in the case of university professor Alfred Bulai from SNSPA (National University of Political Sciences and Public Administration), who was accused of sexually assaulting female students, and to take measures against those who knew about these practices but remained silent.

"For more than 48 hours, the minister of Education, Ligia Deca, did not have any reaction regarding the case of university professor Alfred Bulai from SNSPA, who was accused of sexually assaulting female students for decades. The lack of positioning of the minister of Education discourages the victims from telling their stories and prevent such abuses in the future. It is all the more serious as Ligia Deca is herself a professor with the SNSPA," reads a press release sent to AGERPRES by USR.

USR Senator Silvia Dinica added that although there were new accusations of aggression against other university professors and new testimonies about the sociologist Alfred Bulai, there was still no reaction from Ligia Deca.

"More concerned with posting about the successes of the Paris Olympics and the International Chemistry Olympiad, Deca does not say a single word about this scandalous case, and even hides the garbage under the mat without remorse. And, while the Ministry of Education pretends not to see the garbage in its own yard, the aggressor has already submitted his request for retirement, and SNSPA has already accepted it. If he retires early to escape the internal investigation, then the Ministry of Education will no longer have any possibly to intervene in this case, because there will no longer exist a contractual relationship with him," Dinica said.

The senator also claims that it is possible that Ligia Deca cannot react "because Alfred Bulai is a nerve point for PNL (National Liberal Party)," considering that he was a consultant or "provider" in the past for the party and its leaders.

"The Ministry of Education must react now, not tomorrow! Measures must also be taken against those who knew about these practices and remained silent! We need tougher sanctions in such cases and a guide that is followed as by the book, and the one who breaks the rules should bear the consequences," concluded Silvia Dinica. A
