A new magnitude 3.8 earthquake occurred on Wednesday afternoon at 16:06 local time in the Vrancea seismic zone, in south-eastern Buzau County, the National Earth Physics Research and Development Institute (INCDFP) announced.
The 140 km-deep tremor is the second produced on Wednesday in Buzau County, after the 4.3-magnitude one that struck the area at 9:25 a.m.
As many as 25 earthquakes measuring between 2 and 4.3 on the Richter scale occurred in Romania since the beginning of October.
The strongest tectonic movement this year was a 5.7 magnitude quake recorded on February 14 in Gorj County, at a depth of 6.3 kilometers.
