Senate votes new Standing Bureau composition
The Senate voted on Monday on the composition of the Standing Bureau for the second ordinary session of this year.
The members of the Standing Bureau were elected, apart from the President of the Senate (who is elected at the beginning of the legislature or when the parliamentary majority changes), by electronic secret ballot.
Senators voted in favour of the composition of the Standing Bureau, announced by the group leaders from the platform of the Senate, by electronic secret ballot, with 89 votes in favour, one against, one abstention and 17 senators not voting.
The Social Democratic Party (PSD) parliamentary group, with 48 members, has two vice-presidents of the Senate - Robert Cazanciuc and Paul Stanescu, a secretary - Ion Mocioalca, and a quaestor - Marius Dunca.
The National Liberal Party (PNL) has 39 senators and is represented in the Standing Bureau by two vice-presidents - Virgil Guran and Sorin Mihai Cimpeanu, and a secretary - Roberta Alma Anastase, as well as a quaestor - Ciprian Pandea.
The Save Romania Union Party of Liberty, Union and Solidarity - USR PLUS group, with 21 members, has one secretary of the Senate - Narcis Mircescu and one quaestor - Sergiu Vlad.
The Alliance for Romania's Union (AUR) group, with 12 senators, is represented in the Standing Bureau by Secretary Sorin Lavric.
From the UDMR, with 9 members, Tanczos Barna occupies one of the four positions of quaestor of the Senate.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 27 of the Senate Rules, the allocation of positions in the Standing Bureau is established at the beginning of each ordinary session, through negotiations between the group representatives, observing the share in the number of senators of each group as against the total number of senators.
Moreover, the group leaders for the current session are: PSD group - Lucian Romascanu, PNL group - Daniel Fenechiu, USR PLUS group, Radu Mihai Mihail, AUR group - Claudiu Tarziu, and UDMR senatorial group - Cseke Attila.
