The importance of strengthening security and defense on the Eastern European Flank was highlighted on Wednesday during the meeting that the President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, had with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Romania, Martin Kosatka.

"The Czech Republic is an important and traditional partner of Romania in Central Europe. We have good bilateral parliamentary cooperation, both at the level of the Senate leadership and at the level of the committees, especially in the areas of foreign affairs, defense, security and environment. We discussed these aspects today, on the occasion of the visit of H.E. Martin Kosatka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Bucharest. We also addressed the need to strengthen security and defense on the Eastern European Flank, in the context of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, as well as the importance of the vote in the Republic of Moldova on Sunday", Abrudean wrote on Facebook.

He also stressed the importance of unity to have a strong Europe: "We must protect ourselves better and be more united than ever, to have a strong Europe."
