1709 - Birth of Antioh Cantemir, Romanian-born Russian writer and diplomat, son of Dimitrie Cantemir, ruler of Moldova (1710-1711) (d. April 11, 1744)

1848 - Romanians gather in Orlat to protest against the union of Transylvania with Hungary
1872 - Death of Avram Iancu, head of the 1848-1849 Romanian Revolution and of the popular army in Transylvania (b. June 1824)
1910 - Yvonne Camarasescu travels by biplane the distance between Ploiesti and Chitila, at a height of 600 meters, breaking the women's world record, which stood at 30 kilometers
1914 - Romania and Italy sign agreement to warn each other in the event they renounced neutrality
1919 - Signing of the Peace Treaty with Austria, at Saint-Germaine en Laye, which recognized the union of Bucovina with Romania
1944 - Birth of poet Eugen Evu (d. 20 October 2017)

2006 - Inhabitants of Turia township in Covasna set a new world record, after preparing a 81-meters-long traditional Romanian dish called 'bulz' using polenta and cheese
2014 - The bust of renowned surgeon Alexandru Pesamosca, dubbed by patients and colleagues 'Children's angel' was unveiled by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Hospital, three years from his death, agerpres reports.
