The border police officers from the southwestern Sannicolau Mare Border Police Sector, Timis County, detected seven citizens from Turkey, asylum seekers in Romania, who tried to illegally cross the border into Serbia.
On December 14, the border police guards in Sannicolau Mare launched a specific action to combat illegal migration, as a result of which they detected, within in the area of the border town of Beba Veche, Timis County, seven foreign citizens traveling from within the country towards the border with Serbia, according to a press release sent by the Timisoara Border Police Territorial Inspectorate (ITPF).
The persons in question, who did not justify their presence in the area, were taken to the headquarters of the Sannicolau Mare Border Police for investigation.
During the preliminary checks, the border police determined that the respective persons are from Turkey, all asylum seekers on Romanian territory.
From the first statements it emerged that they were trying to illegally cross the border from Romania to Serbia, with the intention of returning home to Turkey.
In the case, the border police are investigating the crime of attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border, upon completion of which the necessary legal measures will be taken.AGERPRES
