Inflation is the biggest problem for the Romanian business environment this year, followed by unfair competition, said Florin Jianu, president of the National Council of Small and Medium-Sized Private Enterprises in Romania (CNIPMMR), at the launch event of a new edition of the document "White Charter of SMEs in Romania."
"Inflation is still a problem for the business environment. We have seen, however, that it is slowly easing and, as was forecast at the beginning of the year, we will probably reach the 3% level. Already, in other European countries, there is a marked downward trend in inflation. Inflation, however, is already in one digit, but it remains in the attention and concern of small and medium-sized enterprises. Coming in second is unfair competition, namely the gray economy, to call it plastically. And we believe (...) that these should be the concerns for the coming period. Even if we are talking about different types of regulations, such as e-Invoicing, e-Transport, e-VAT and so on, they will generally impact the whole business environment. We need to find those mechanisms to combat unfair competition, which, for entrepreneurs, means that they cannot keep up with those types of prices, and which for the Government means lower taxes," Jianu mentioned.
He added that, in the top ten biggest difficulties for the business environment this year, "there is one more thing that had never appeared in our analysis, namely the competition of imported products."
Jianu also said that almost seven out of ten entrepreneurs intend to access structural funds this year, compared to 2023, when it was five out of ten people.
In terms of the number of employees, the increase in small and medium-sized enterprises is positive and growing from one year to the next.
