Writers Radu Paraschivescu and Cristian Preda promise a series of revelations regarding the story behind the first perfect "10" in the history of Olympic artistic gymnastics, during a special event dedicated to Nadia Comaneci at the Bookfest Targu Mures Book Fair, scheduled for September 24-27, the Romanian Publishers Association (AER) announced on Thursday.
According to an AER press release, the event dedicated to Romania's legendary gymnast is scheduled for September 26 at 12:30 pm. The program will feature the presentation of the anniversary edition of the book ''Letters to a Young Gymnast'' [''Scrisori catre o tanara gimnasta''], authored by Nadia Comaneci herself, as well as ''For the Sake of Nadia Comaneci'' [''De dragul Nadiei Comaneci''] by Cho Nam-joo, with both titles are published by Humanitas.
The two intellectuals will present an analysis to the Targu Mures audience of the global phenomenon sparked by the historic performance at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. The dialogue between Paraschivescu and Preda will recreate the atmosphere of that era and reveal the sacrifices, political pressure, and determination behind the success that revolutionized world artistic gymnastics. The presentation dedicated to Nadia Comaneci, according to the organizers, is part of the packed cultural agenda of the Bookfest Targu Mures Book Fair, which features book launches and presentations, autograph sessions, and debates involving some of the country's most renowned writers and publishers.
The Bookfest Book Fair is organized by the Romanian Publishers Association under the aegis of the Federation of Romanian Publishers, with the support of the Mures County Library and financial backing from the Targu Mures Local Council and the Mures County Council.
