On Friday, TAROM marks the 72nd anniversary of its founding with a 72 round-trip offer for several domestic destinations, valid until the end of the day on September 18, according to a company statement released to AGERPRES on Thursday.
"Tomorrow, September 18, TAROM marks its 72nd anniversary by looking toward the future. After more than seven decades of connecting Romania with domestic and international destinations, the national airline continues its transformation, maintaining safety as a fundamental priority while focusing on the passenger experience, services tailored to modern expectations, and the strengthening of connectivity. Throughout these 72 years, TAROM has played a part in the journeys of millions of passengers and in the development of Romania's air links. The tradition of continuous operation and the professionalism gained over more than seven decades form the foundation upon which the company is building its next phase, with the same commitment to operational safety and a constant focus on the quality of the passenger experience," the statement reads.
To this end, the company is preparing a new commercial approach for the coming period, aimed at enhancing the passenger experience throughout the entire journeyfrom interactions with TAROM and ground services to the in-flight experience. At the same time, the company seeks to tailor its offering to current travel needs and strengthen air connections that are relevant to its passengers.
The transformation process also includes fleet modernization through the introduction of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. This phase supports the company's objectives regarding operational efficiency, passenger comfort, and the maintenance of high safety standards.
The first aircraft of this phase bear the names of champions Mircea Lucescu and Ivan Patzaichin.

It is a history we respect, yet the anniversary is equally about what we are building for the future. We have the responsibility to carry forward a name with a 72-year history and to build its future with the same level of commitment," said TAROM CEO Cristian Anghel, as quoted in the press release.
To mark its anniversary, TAROM is running a promotion from September 14 to 18 offering round-trip fares of 72 to Baia Mare, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Oradea, Suceava, and Tims?oara for travel starting October 15, 2026, as well as to Arad for travel between November 2 and November 22, 2026.
The fare includes all taxes, one piece of hand luggage and one personal item with a combined maximum weight of 8 kg, as well as free online and airport check-in. Seats are limited, and the offer is available for select flights operated by TAROM.

The Romanian National Air Transport Company - TAROM was established in 1954 and operates under the authority of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure; it has been a member of the SkyTeam Alliance since June 25, 2010. Romania's national carrier operates a fleet of 13 aircraft and serves a portfolio of over 50 destinations, either with its own aircraft or through code-share partners. TAROM has been a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 1993.
