Romania needs a Government, a credible prime minister, competent ministers, a programme which takes into account the realities of our economy, President of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Ilie Bolojan said on Thursday after the consultations at the Cotroceni Palace with the head of state regarding the nomination of a prime minister.
"Regardless of who is to be nominated, if they are invested in Parliament, their main challenge will be to maintain control over public finance, because one of the important gains that we had in this government was to gain control over public finance in order to limit debt and the deficit. For that, the new government must continue the measures to reduce state expenditures, to place the state in the service of the citizens and, obviously, to create conditions for an economy placed on healthier foundations, an economy does not operate solely on credit and consumption, an economy based on an increasingly important investment component," he said.
Bolojan said the new government will have to pursue energy projects so that energy prices in Romania are lower in the coming years and continue with administrative reforms.
The Liberal leader said the PNL will discuss with the designated prime minister and, if his programme and team meet these requirements, a formula will be found in order to have a government installed so that "Romania can maintain its credibility in the eyes of international markets," so that Romanians can have "a clear outlook" and put an end to "this situation of provisional government brought about by the irresponsible decision of the PSD to bring down a government without putting anything in its place."
