Stubble and dry vegetation fires in six localities in Giurgiu county

A total area of more than six hectares of stubble and dry vegetation burned on Friday in six localities in Giurgiu county, with firefighters intervening with nine fire-fighting vehicles, told Agerpres.

"In the last few hours, firefighters from Giurgiu intervened to extinguish seven dry vegetation fires in six localities in the county. In Dobreni there were two interventions by firefighters after an area of about 1.5 hectares of stubble and dry vegetation burned from an open fire in open spaces, and in Trestieni an area of 3.5 hectares of stubble and dry vegetation also started burning from an unattended fire. Also at Daia, Coliba and Cartojani and Popesti there were burned areas of land with vegetation between two thousand and five thousand square meters, and at Daia and Popesti over three hundred kilograms of manure and plastic waste burned," the Giurgiu Inspectorate for Emergency situations (ISU) says a press release.

Open fires in open spaces were the probable cause of the fires.

Giurgiu county is under a code yellow warning for heat, and in recent days there has been under a code orange warning for high temperatures.
