Romania recorded one win and one defeat in its first two events at the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu, China.
Romania defeated Brazil 8-2 on Monday, with victories across the board for the tricolours, according to the Romanian Table Tennis Federation website.
Bernadette Szocs/Ovidiu Ionescu defeated Karina Shiray/Felipe Arado in mixed doubles 2-1 (11-7, 11-2, 7-11), Andreea Dragoman defeated Victoria Stassburger 3-0 (11-5, 11-2, 14-12) and Darius Movileanu prevailed against Lucas Romanski 2-1 (11-2, 11-8, 6-11) in singles, while in women's doubles Elizabeta Samara and Bernadette Szocs won against Victoria Stassburger/Karina Shiray 1-0 (11-4).
On Sunday, in the first event, Romania lost to Germany 5-8.
The competition format requires a team to reach 8 sets won, with the match order being mixed doubles, women's singles (player who did not feature in mixed doubles), men's singles (player who did not feature in mixed doubles), women's doubles, men's doubles.
Germany ranks 1st with 4 points, followed by France with 3 points, Romania with 3 points and Brazil with 2 points.
On Tuesday, Romania will play the final group match against France.
At last year's edition, Romania finished fourth.
