Temperatures rise to 39 degrees in most regions, with highest values in south and east

More than half the country will be under a Code Orange heat wave warning throughout Thursday, with temperatures reaching 39 Celsius degrees.

According to the National Meteorological Administration, in the counties of Banat, Crisana, Oltenia, Muntenia, the continental area of Dobrogea, the south of Moldova, the west and south-west of Transylvania and locally in Maramures the heat wave will persist, will continue to expand and will intensify. It will be hot, and the maximum temperatures will range between 36 and 39 Celsius degrees, with the highest values in the west and south. The thermal discomfort will be accentuated, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.

The minimum temperatures will not drop below 20 Celsius degrees, so they will characterize a tropical night.

The Code Orange warning also applies to Bucharest.

In the rest of the country, respectively in areas of Moldova, locally in Transylvania and Maramures and on the coast, it is yellow cod. The maximum temperatures will range between 33 and 37 Celsius degrees, there will be high thermal discomfort and scorching heat locally. The temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units on extended areas.
