The pair made of the Romanian tennis Irina Begu and Mihaela Buzarnescu on Tuesday qualified for the doubles quarterfinals of the tournament in Hobart (Australia), a WTA tournament equipped with total prizes worth 250,000 US dollars, after defeating 1-6, 6-3, 10-8 the pair Kaitlyin Christian (USA)/Alexa Guarachi (Chile).
The seeds no. 2 scored their victory in 63 minutes.
Begu and Buzarnescu already won a cheque worth 910 US dollars and 60 WTA points for reaching this far in the doubles competition, following in the quarterfinals to meet the pair made of young players Anastasia Potapova (Russia) and Daiana Iastremska (Ukraine).
On the same day, Tuesday, Raluca Olaru and Monica Niculescu also qualified for the quarterfinals of the doubles event of the Tasmanian tournament.
Raluca Olaru and Cossack Galina Voskoboeva defeated the pair Alexandra Panova (Russia)/Laura Siegemund (Germany), 6-4, 6-3, in 68 minutes.
Monica Niculescu and Chinese Zhaoxuan Yang, seeds no. 3, defeated 6-4, 6-2 the paur Xinyu Jiang/Shuai Zhang (China), in 66 minutes.
The pairs Olaru/Voskoboeva and Niculescu/Yang will meet in the quarterfinals.
