No. 8 seed, Romanian tennis player Irina Maria Bara on Thursday moved to the quarterfinals of the ITF Valencia Open tournament featuring 25,000 US dollars in total prize money, after hammering out a 6-1, 6-1 win over Norway's Melanie Stokke in just 64 minutes.
Stokke (aged 20, WTA's 373rd) had had the upper hand in the players' previous encounters, winning 6-1, 6-2 the match against Bara in the first round of a 10,000-dollar futures event in Antalya in 2014, and in the round of sixteen of this year's 25,000-dollar Bad Saulgau tournament (Germany).
In the Valencia Open quarterfinals, 21-year-old Bara will play the winner of the match Cristina Bucsa (Spain) vs. second favourite Conny Perrin (Switzerland).
