The Competition Council issued a positive opinion on the Government Resolution draft providing the capping of the RCA mandatory motor vehicle liability insurance rate on a six-month period, Competition Council President Bogdan Chiritoiu told a specialist conference.
"We have a new legislation approved by emergency ordinance, under debate with Parliament, taking over some of our recommendations. I believe it is a good legislation. There are a series of recommendations which will be taken over by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) in the secondary legislation or introduced in the law over the parliamentary procedure of the ordinance," Chiritoiu showed.
He explained that the existence of this legislation and of a stronger regulator determined the Competition Council to issue a positive opinion on the RCA rates capping.
Two weeks ago, the ASF announced in a release, that hauliers could pay a maximum 7,534 lei RCA bonus for an over 16 tonne vehicle, while for the person transport vehicles with a capacity of over 40 seats the maximum bonus will be 6,600 lei.
In the case of individuals, for a vehicle with a cylinder capacity between 1,201-1,400 cubic centimetres, owned by an individual aged between 31 and 40, the maximum bonus rate is 610 lei.
The maximum rates established by the ASF, according to law, will be sent to the Public Finance Ministry, which will submit them to the Government's approval.
