MEP Eugen Tomac stated on Tuesday that there is no longer any rational argument for keeping the country at a standstill, and that political leaders must set aside calculations of any kind and put Romania first.

"The prolonged crisis further deepens citizens' distrust of the political class," Tomac wrote on Facebook.

He added that every day without a new government has a huge impact on the economy and prices, and reinforces anti-national propaganda.

"There is no longer any rational argument for keeping the country at a standstill. Political leaders must set aside calculations of any kind and put Romania first," Tomac stated.

Eugen Tomac is also a presidential advisor. He was designated Prime Minister in early June by President Nicusor Dan. Lacking a parliamentary majority to support his bid for the premiership, he returned his mandate just days after his nomination.
