Turnover in Romania's wholesale trade (except of motor vehicles and motorcycles) in unadjusted terms increased by 11 percent in nominal terms in the first two months of 2019 compared with the same period in 2018, with the most significant advance being recorded by wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (+ 21.9 percent), according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) released on Wednesday.
Wholesale of consumer goods except of food grew by 14.2 percent between January and February 2019, wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment increased by 12.7 percent; sale of food, beverages and tobacco recorded an increase by 9.7 percent; wholesale of specialised products increased by 9.5 percent; wholesale of non-specialised products advanced 9.2 percent, while wholesale intermediation activities went up 6.6 percent. Wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies remained at the same level.
When adjusted for working days and seasonality, wholesale in the first two months of 2019 increased by 10.5 percent in nominal terms due to the increase in the wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (+ 26.7 percent); wholesale intermediation (+ 15.1 percent); wholesale of non-food goods (+ 13.6 percent); wholesale of IT and communications equipment (+ 12.6 percent); wholesale of specialised products (+ 9.7 percent); non-specialised wholesale (+ 9 percent), and wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+8.4 percent). Wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies decreased by 0.3 percent.
