The University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila" in Bucharest reaffirmed its position among leading universities at international level, being included in the 2026 edition of the prestigious ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) in two academic fields, Clinical Medicine (201-300) and Public Health (401-500), maintaining the positions it held in the previous edition.
According to the results published in the 2026 edition of the GRAS ranking, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila " (UMF) in Bucharest is the only university in Romania represented in both Clinical Medicine and Public Health, as well as in the broader Medical Sciences field.
"The University's continued presence in the prestigious Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026 in Clinical Medicine and Public Health, as well as its presence in the broader Medical Sciences field, represents a confirmation of the direction that the academic community of the UMF 'Carol Davila' is following with responsibility and perseverance. This international recognition reflects the quality of education, research performance and the involvement of academic staff, researchers, students and PhD students who contribute every day to strengthening the prestige of our university, which is why I would like to extend my sincere thanks and congratulations to all of them for their professionalism, dedication and sustained effort in achieving this remarkable result," UMF "Carol Davila" rector Viorel Jinga said, as quoted in the release issued on Wednesday.
The 2026 edition of the ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) assesses the performance of universities worldwide in 57 academic subfields, grouped into five broad areas: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences. The ranking methodology is based on relevant indicators of academic performance, including the impact and quality of research, international collaborations, high-visibility publications and global academic recognition.
