The 28th edition of the CineMAiubit International Student Film Festival will take place from Tuesday to Saturday at the "I. L. Caragiale" National University of Theatre and Film Arts (UNATC) Bucharest.

The festival will begin on Tuesday at 18:00 at the Cinema Hall of UNATC, with an opening ceremony followed by two screenings: the first block from the Fiction competition and the Future Perspectives competition, dedicated to early student films (1st and 2nd year), the organisers announced on Monday.

The festival programme includes competitions for short fiction films, documentaries, animation, as well as workshops, book launches, symposia, and two exhibitions - photography and posters. The competitive screenings will be followed by Q&A sessions where the audience can interact with the team members.

Additionally, this year's edition introduces a new event, "Night Film," during which three feature films made by UNATC alumni will be screened: "Leo Records Strictly for Our Friends" by Ioana Grigore, "Ink Wash" by Sarra Tsorakidis, and "Alice On & Off" by Isabela Tent.

The festival brings together films from countries such as Brazil, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Albania, Czech Republic, Israel, and, of course, Romania.

The awarded films will be selected by juries composed of professionals from the Romanian film industry.

The Fiction competition jury will be chaired by Italian director, screenwriter, and professor Giovanni Robbiano, and includes director Sarra Tsorakidis, producer Anda Ionescu, actress Ilinca Harnut, editor Corina Stavila, festival programmer and critic Calin Boto, and cinematographer Andrei Butica.

The Documentary competition jury consists of producer and director Monica Lazurean-Gorgan, director Isabela Tent, and film critic Mihai Fulger. The Animation jury includes director Gyopar Buzsasi, director Vlad Ilicevici, and film critic Laurentiu Bratan, while the Critics jury is made up of Dana Duma - professor, film critic and historian, secretary of the Association of Film Critics from UCIN, Marilena Iliesiu - film critic, and Mihai Fulger.

The "Sorin Botoseneanu" Photography Award, which honours the memory of Professor Sorin Botoseneanu, former dean of the Film Faculty, will be awarded by the following jurors: Andreea Mihalcea - film critic and director, university assistant, Cristina Iliescu - documentary film director, and Bogdan Maraloiu - film director.

This edition of the festival will feature two special competitions: the "Dumitru Carabat" Screenplay Competition and Semne'n'cadru, which brings together Romanian film trailers and video essays.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday at 19:00, at the Cinema Hall of UNATC.

The festival is organised by UNATC "I. L. Caragiale" Bucharest and the CineMAiubit Foundation, with the support of the National Centre for Cinematography (CNC), the Union of Film Artists from Romania (UCIN), and DACIN SARA.

The festival programme can be accessed on the website cinemaiubit.ro, as well as on the event's social media pages.

Admission to all events within the festival is free.
