Save Romania Union (USR) asks the leaders of the coalition, Marcel Ciolacu and Nicolae Ciuca, to publicly present an assumed variant and explain to Romanians and companies what will happen to their energy bills from January 1, 2023.
"Energy prices are not made with a pen. The Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) should explain to Romanians and companies what will really happen after January 1, 2023. After months in which they proved their incompetence in managing the crisis of energy bills, taking all kinds of aberrant measures, which only deepened the chaos, PSD and PNL throw on the market, on sources, new figures and new calculation options," USR says, in a statement sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.
According to deputy Radu Miruta, a member of the Committee for Industries and Services, the Romanian entrepreneur "cannot be reassured by figures thrown at sources, without any consistency behind them". The government has to pay suppliers "many billions of euros" for the difference between the purchase price and the sale price of electricity, he added.
The USR deputy wondered how the government will keep the electricity price at 1.3 RON, uncompensated, while the producers have already sold the energy in advance at other prices.
USR Deputy Claudiu Nasui, former Minister of Economy, believes that the measures announced in the public space will not work, because import prices cannot be capped. According to Nasui, PSD and PNL "did not understand anything" of what happened with the measures they have taken so far on the energy market and the wood market.
USR reiterated its support for the elimination of taxes from gas and electricity bills, the reduction of VAT to 5%, the granting of 1,000 RON vouchers for vulnerable consumers and tax credits for companies and the reduction of labor taxation.AGERPRES
