Value of contracts signed until today for building new solar parks amounts to 1 billion lei

The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, signed on Friday 55 financing contracts aimed at construction projects for solar parks for municipalities and public institutions, their total value being 120.9 million lei, with an installed power of 18.45 MW.

"So far, we have signed projects worth over 1 billion lei for municipalities and public institutions, through which they will build solar parks and reduce electricity bills. Today alone we have signed with 55 municipalities and public institutions, supporting local communities reduce utility costs, ensure energy consumption for schools, nurseries, polyclinics or public lighting, and the money saved to is returning to the community through new investments", Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, was quoted as saying in a release sent to AGERPRES.

The contracts signed on Friday are related to the call financed by the Modernization Fund, Key Program 1: Renewable energy sources and energy storage - Supporting investments in new capacities to produce electricity produced from renewable sources for self-consumption for public entities, Agerpres informs.


Burduja specified that only on this call, 367 financing contracts for the construction of new solar parks were signed.

"The budget of my mandate remains the same: investments, investments, investments. So far, on this call I have signed 367 financing contracts for the construction of new solar parks. The direct beneficiaries are the town halls and public institutions, but also the citizens who will have an air cleaner, cheaper energy and new investments in local communities. The total value of the contracts signed to date is amounts to over 1 billion lei, of which 938 million lei represents non-reimbursable funds from the Modernization Fund", said Sebastian Burduja.

The Ministry of Energy reconfirms its commitment to energy investments and thus fulfills an important objective for the development of renewable energy production capacities in Romania. The number of applicants in the call is approximately 1400 public institutions, and the team of the Ministry of Energy managed to secure, from the Modernization Fund, financing for all the eligible projects submitted. The principle for evaluation and contracting is "first come, first served", depending on the moment of submission of the financing request by each individual applicant.
