The first round of the presidential elections ended on Monday, at 7:00 AM Romanian time, at all 950 polling stations organised abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (AE) officially announced.
The last polling stations where voting ended abroad were those organised in Vancouver, Canada, and in the locations on the West Coast of the United States - San Francisco, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Las Vegas, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle.
Due to time zone differences and the specific voting schedule, the voting abroad for the presidential elections lasted 78 hours, relative to Romania's time: from Friday, November 22, 1:00 AM Romania time, until Monday, November 25, 7:00 AM Romania time, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organised 950 polling stations abroad for the presidential and parliamentary elections this year, through Romania's diplomatic missions and consular offices.
According to the AEP website, by Monday, at 7:00 AM, 821,703 Romanian voters had cast their ballots in the diaspora - 817,476 on supplementary lists and 4,227 by mail.
