Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the PNL president, stated that by proposing Siegfried Muresan as prime minister, Romania has the chance to continue on the right path: with a reformist, responsible, and staunchly pro-European government.

"Siegfried Muresan is a visionary politician, deeply committed to Romania's interests and possessing significant European stature. I am pleased that President Nicusor Dan has embraced this direction by nominating him. I am convinced that the prime minister-designate, Siegfried Muresan, will propose a strong team and a governing program to Parliament capable of meeting the challenges of the period ahead and fulfilling expectations regarding the reform and modernization of Romania," Ilie Bolojan wrote on Facebook on Thursday evening.

He emphasized that the PNL, together with its political partners USR and UDMR, would immediately begin discussions to form a parliamentary majority to support the installation of the new government.

"Together with our partners from USR and UDMR, we will immediately start political discussions to establish a majority and form the new government as quickly as possible. Given the current political landscape, this is not an easy task. I have confidence in the team that will be formed and in the Muresan government's ability to meet the expectations of the Romanian people," Bolojan stated.

President Nicusor Dan nominated MEP Siegfried Muresan for the position of Prime Minister on Thursday and he accepted the proposal.
