2025 - 2027 Open Government National Action Plan approved

The government approved on Thursday the 2025 - 2027 National Action Plan aimed at promoting citizen access to information of public interest, a guideline document pledged by Romania under the Open Government Partnership (OGP), a release informs.

The implementation of the National Action Plan is coordinated and monitored by the government's Secretariat General, according to Government Decision No. 137/2020.

"The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is an international agreement aimed at engaging governments in promoting access to public information and citizen participation in the consultation process, in using new technologies for strengthening governance and dialogue with citizens. According to OGP standards, participating countries must adopt national action plans that provide for reforms in the field of open government, developed, implemented and monitored in cooperation with the civil society," the cited source notes.

The Romanian government has been a member of the Open Government Partnership since 2011, having implemented in this period 6 National Action Plans, which included over 80 commitments in areas such as: participation and consultation, transparency, justice and integrity, social services, open education, open data.

"The 2025 - 2027 National Action Plan was developed based on proposals by the central public administration (ministries and agencies reporting to the ministries) and the civil society from January to June 2025. The development process resulted in 13 ambitious commitments in areas such as: access to information, digital governance, inclusion and gender equality, as well as public participation," the release states.
