3-month ROBOR index increases to 7.29% per year

The 3-month ROBOR index, which is used to calculate interest rates on consumer loans in lei with variable interest rates, rose on Thursday to 7.29% per year, up from 7.20% previously, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

A similar value for the 3-month ROBOR index - 7.28% per year - was last recorded on January 23, 2023. At the beginning of this year, the index stood at 5.92% per year, but started rising on May 6, two days after the first round of the presidential election, when it increased to 6.08% per year.

The 6-month ROBOR index, used to calculate interest on variable-rate mortgage loans in lei, rose to 7.39% from 7.36%, while the 12-month ROBOR increased to 7.44% from 7.41%.

As for the Consumer Credit Reference Index (IRCC), regulated by Emergency Ordinance 19/2019, it stands at 5.55% per year, calculated as the arithmetic average of daily interbank interest rates from Q4 2024. This marks a decline from the previous quarter, when it was 5.66%.
