A magnitude 3.3 earthquake occurred on Saturday, at 17:04, in Buzau County, Vrancea seismic zone, according to data published by the National Institute of Research and Development for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The quake occurred at a depth of 151.1 km, near the cities of Sfantu-Gheorghe (55 km southeast of Sfantu-Gheorghe), Focsani (60 km west of Focsani), Buzau (62 km northwest of Buzau), Brasov (62 km east of Brasov) and Ploiesti (80 km north of Ploiesti).

As many as18 earthquakes occurred in Romania in October and the most significant one had a magnitude of 4.2 and occurred on October 4 in Vrancea County.

The strongest tectonic movement this year, measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, occurred in February in southwestern Gorj county, at a depth of 6.3 kilometres.
