Following the moves made by the Crisis Cell, 346 Romanian and foreign citizens were repatriated from Israel, on the night of Saturday to Sunday, with two flights operated by TAROM company - 189 first flight, respectively 157 with the second flight -, measure taken in the context of the deterioration of the security situation in the State of Israel and the Gaza Strip, the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs.

MAE says that a mobile consular team from the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Romanian Representation Office in Ramallah went to Ben Gurion Airport to provide consular assistance to Romanian citizens at the airport, Agerpres reports.

"At the same time, representatives of the MAE Crisis Cell have coordinated with the Israeli authorities and the Romanian Patriarchate to manage groups of Romanian citizens and pilgrims at Ben Gurion Airport, in order to ensure their accommodation, until repatriation solutions are identified. MAE uses this opportunity to thank the Israeli authorities for the support provided for the safe repatriation of Romanian citizens," reads a press release of the ministry sent on Sunday.

MAE reiterates the recommendation addressed to Romanian citizens who intend to travel to the State of Israel to reschedule their trip and follow the Travel Alerts section on the MFA-https://www.mae.ro/travel-alerts/2938 website.

Romanian citizens who are on the territory of this state can address the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv and can announce their presence in the region, thus communicating their identification data and their own coordinates to the e-mail address [email protected] and to the permanent telephone number of the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv: +972 54 5643279, as well as that of the Consulate General in Haifa: +972 543 998 038, to be contacted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends consulting the Internet pages http://telaviv.mae.ro, https://consular-protection.ec.europa.eu/travel-advice_en and www.mae.ro - section Travel advice and recalls that Romanian citizens traveling abroad have at their disposal the SMS alert service, related to the information campaign "An SMS can save your life!".
