A total of 42 localities in 16 counties (Arges, Braila, Buzau, Caras-Severin, Constanta, Calarasi, Dambovita, Galati, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Ilfov, Olt, Prahova, Teleorman, Tulcea and Valcea), as well as the capital city, were affected in the past 24 hours by hydrometeorological phenomena.
According to the Department for Emergency Situations, intervention teams acted to evacuate water from: 8 houses, 2 household annexes, 38 yards, 9 flooded buildings. They also removed construction elements from 6 buildings and cleared 46 fallen trees and 1 electricity pole. A total of 24 vehicles were damaged.
Due to strong winds, operations were suspended in all ports in Constanta County.
The Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Inspectorate reported that over the last 24 hours, it handled 38 interventions in the capital and Ilfov County.
In Bucharest, there were 18 fallen trees, 3 detached construction elements, 5 instances of water accumulation, 17 vehicles were affected, while in Ilfov County, there were 3 fallen trees, 2 detached construction elements, 8 water accumulations, 1 damaged vehicle.
Currently, according to ISUBIF, ongoing interventions include Mitropolit Antim Ivireanul Street - a tree fell on four cars, Covasnei Street, Pantelimon - water accumulation on the street, Margelelor Street, intersection with Rubinului, Bragadiru - water accumulation on the street.
A more serious incident occurred in the last 24 hours on Trestiana Street, Sector 4 of the capital, where a tree fell on a moving car. Two people were in the vehicle and got out on their own without medical complaints. After being assessed by the SMURD emergency crew, they refused transport to the hospital.
On the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, after the Cod Red weather alert was issued, Minister of Internal Affairs Catalin Predoiu went to the Coordination Centre, where he was briefed on the operational situation and the ongoing management of the effects of hydrometeorological events occurring in various parts of the country.
