As many as 617 COVID-19 Omicron cases were reported in Romania as of January 16, the National Public Health Institute (INSP) informed on Tuesday.
According to INSP, in the week January 10-16, 322 Omicron cases were confirmed.
As of January 16, as many as 8,845 sequencing investigations had been reported to the INSP - CNSCBT, of which 431 in the last week. The 431 sequencing investigations were reported by the Cantacuzino Institute (265) and the Matei Bals Institute (166).
There are 8,238 cases of concern involving SARS-CoV-2 variants, including 5,865 involving the Delta variant and 617 the Omicron variant.
As of January 16, the confirmation rate of worrying variants was 93%.
Of the 5,865 Delta cases, 108 were confirmed last week.
