A total of 6,327 companies were deregistered nationwide in January 2025, a 31.61% decrease compared to the same period in 2024, according to statistics from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
The highest number of deregistrations was recorded in Bucharest, with 1,067 (a decrease of 22.46% compared to the first month of 2024), and in the counties of Iasi (318 +1.27%), Timis (286, -8.92%), Cluj (275, -41.36%), Bihor (234, -13.65%) and Prahova (221, -21.91%).
On the other hand, the fewest deregistrations were recorded in the counties of Ialomita (31, a decrease of 52.31% compared to January 2024), Giurgiu (43, -43.42%), Calarasi (45, -33.82%), Mehedinti (45, -40%) and Covasna (46, -40.26%).
Increases in the number of deregistrations were only recorded in the counties of Neamt (+1.63%) and Iasi (+1.27%), while the most significant decreases were recorded in Dambovita (-76.27%), Galati (-61.88%), Ialomita (-52.31%) and Giurgiu (-51.08%).
By sectors of activity, the highest number of deregistrations was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, with 1,570 (-22.85% compared to January 2024), agriculture, forestry and fishing (658, -44.14%), and transportation and storage (641, -15.88%).
